World Vision – Palmera, Dominican Republic
NPC and World Vision share a goal of bringing the children of Palmera, Dominican Republic, closer to reaching their God-given potential. We will reach our goal through child sponsorship and by investing in World’ Vision’s Microfinance and Christian Witness programs.
NPC has been partnering with World Vision in the Dominican Republic for over ten years, primarily in the community of Restauracion in the Dominican Republic’s rural northwest. Through this partnership, NPC has changed lives by sponsoring several hundred children and participating in two important construction projets --- an irrigation pipeline bringing water to a desolate area and construction of a library in a nearby town. In 2014, NPC decided to embark on a new partnership with World Vision focused on the urban area of Palmera, just outside of the Dominican Republic’s capital of Santo Domingo. To learn more:

By sponsoring children, we are helping the community of Palmera on its journey toward transformation, stepping out in faith to help children half a world away. Sponsors improve lives by providing access to essentials such as clean water, education, and healthcare. Child sponsorship impacts both the child and the child’s family and community. When an entire community is empowered to thrive, transformation is long-lasting and future generations benefit.

The goal of this program is to help small business owners in Palmera access credit for the first time, improving their family incomes and, in many cases, providing jobs and opportunities for others. This program provides more than credit; World Vision offers seminars and other programs that help these entrepreneurs develop and grow their businesses.

Through this program, NPC and World Vision equip local churches to create after-school ministry programs that help children learn about and experience the love of Jesus Christ, while also developing their cognitive and social skills. This program:
- Strengthens churches and church leaders in their ability to nurture spiritual grown in children, families, and communities.
- Help children grow in faith and their knowledge of God’s love for them.
- Equips church leaders, children, and parents to become a voice in their communities on issues related to child protection, justice, and peacebuilding.
