Forman Christian College, Lahore, Pakistan |

In 2003 the government of Pakistan , the second largest Muslim nation in the world, returned to the Presbyterian Church a college we founded in 1864 but was nationalized in the 1970s. Forman was once thought of as the “Harvard” of South Asia because it had educated two Prime Ministers of India, two of Pakistan , several Supreme Court justices and numerous military and business leaders. Under the leadership of American Missionary Educator, Dr. Peter Armacost, the college is a model of interfaith harmony educating Christians and Muslims side by side. Since 2003 the Christians attending the college have grown from 20 students to 700 (in a country in which only 2% of the population are Christians) and the Christian faculty has grown from 4 to 72. 4,330 students are enrolled in this school whose motto is, “by love serve one another.” Our Pastor, Sam Schreiner is on the American Friends of Forman Christian College Board and Noroton has supported up to 50 scholarships a year to enable poor students to attend the college. While we do not currently sponsor a trip to visit the college, there are ways in which you can be involved.
NPC supports the Forman Christian College scholarship program. For $1,300, you can provide funding for one academic year, including tuition, room, board, uniform, and books.
