God calls us to be a congregation that heeds both the Great Commission ("Go and tell about Jesus Christ!") as well as the Great Commandment ("Love your neighbor!"). In John's gospel (3:16), Jesus reminds us that God loves the world. In Matthew's gospel (25:31-46), Jesus teaches us that when we minister to the hungry, the thirsty, the naked, the sick or the imprisoned, we minister to Jesus, himself. Mission trips permit us to "live out" the call of Jesus Christ in unique ways.
There are a number of ways in which we are involved in global missions. We have sent, and continue to send, many on trips around the world. By choosing to go on a mission trip, we invite God to work within us as we ask important questions: "What will you show me, Lord?" "How will you use me?" "How can I make a difference for you?" "What impact will this trip have on how I view my life and your call upon it?" "What might I do as a result of going?"
We also support ministries around the world through prayer and financially. If, in this season of your life, you are unable to travel on a mission trip, we ask that you might consider praying for a mission partner or giving financially to that ministry (such as Forman Christian College).
