SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Vocal Music

Chancel Choir
Providing the "backbone" of our vocal ministry, this growing group is open to all singers of high school age and above who desire to work for musical excellence while sharing their passion for Christ through song. Their primary function is to lead worship through anthems and other types of vocal music for the Sunday morning services. The music they present covers a wide range of styles ranging from traditional anthem and classical works to gospel and contemporary 'praise and worship.'

In addition to their major role in the Christmas Eve Services and throughout Lent, the Chancel Choir presents at least one other extended work each season with orchestral accompaniment. During these special, seasonal times, the choir is expanded to include those who cannot make a weekly commitment, but would like to sing for a shorter period of time, such as Advent or Lent. Chancel Choir Rehearsals are every Thursday, from 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm. All are welcome to join at any time!

NPC Chamber Singers
This group of 20-30 singers will be auditioned members of the NPC Chancel Choir and much of the responsibility for learning the music will be up to the individual member. The music they present will be primarily of classical genre, e.g. motets, madrigals, etc. Auditions for this choir will be held in late September and early October. This choir performs at our Annual Christmas Choral Vespers concert held at the beginning of December.

Praise High Choir (MS & HS 6th-12th grades)
This is an on-going vocal ensemble program for young-adults grades 6 through 12. In addition to singing, these groups will participate in leading worship throughout the year as well as integrating drama and dance into their presentations. If you are interested in becoming part of this group please email MaryAnne Northrop at maryanne.northrop@norotonchurch.org to be added to the email list for updates on when our next singing date and rehearsals will take place.

Sonshine Choir (Kindergarten -1st grades)
If you would like to be part of this group please email MaryAnne Northrop at maryanne.northrop@norotonchurch.org.

Joyful Voice Choir (2nd-5th grades)
If you would like to be part of this group please email MaryAnne Northrop at maryanne.northrop@norotonchurch.org.

Vocal Ensembles and Soloists
Throughout the year, various vocal ensembles (e.g. male quartets, ladies chorus, etc.) are formed on an "as need" basis. In addition, soloists of all ages are used at various times in the worship services. While soloists and ensemble members are primarily drawn from current members of the Chancel Choir or on-going youth ensembles, there are always times when a good singer, for one reason or another, cannot be in one of these groups and efforts are made to use as many in ministry as possible.

INSTRUMENTAL GROUPS

Chapel Ringers
Our hand bell choir meets from 6:45 pm to 7:45 pm every Thursday in the Parlor. This choir of handbell ringers is open to all ages (grade six and above) who desire to ring. No prior experience is necessary, but basic music notation reading will be a plus!

Instrumental Ensembles and Soloists
As our programs expand, our use of qualified instrumentalists of all ages will expand as well. This includes providing instrumental numbers for preludes and offertories, accompaniment of the choir and other vocalists as well as guitarists and percussionists to assist in the worship. If you play an instrument and would like to participate in worship or special events please contact MaryAnne Northrop at maryanne.northrop@norotonchurch.org.

Please contact MaryAnne Northrop, 655-1451 ext. 18, for more information.
