can’t be-
lieve that
it was twelve
years ago that
this wonderful
church in Darien start-
ed interviewing me about becoming
your Pastor. Your committee was so
compelling it was hard to say “no.” So
in 2004 we came trusting that the Lord
was calling us here to begin a partner-
ship for sharing the gospel. Just reflect
on the last 11-plus years and consider
what God packed into them – Forty
Days of Purpose and worship at the
High School, the Newsboys in our
Sanctuary, the Christmas special on
ABC, the launch of Open Doors, a new
Steeple, Foundations for the Future
renovations and mission projects,
study trips to Israel, Jordan, Turkey and
Greece, and mission trips to Pakistan,
Kenya and the Dominican Republic,
Feed my Starving Children and so much
more. There have been hundreds of
sermons shared, lives memorialized,
babies baptized, new members wel-
comed, Elders and Deacons trained,
staff meetings led, hospital patients
prayed for. In many and various ways
we have pursued Christ and deepened
as a community of Christ followers. A
pastor’s life is full and rich with many
blessings and my years at Noroton have
been some of the richest. Thank you
for your prayers and friendship.
One of the great blessings is sharing
ministry at a place like Noroton is
working with talented associates and
staff members. We have been bless-
ed to have the ministry of Pastor John
Seiders with us these past 13 months.
It’s easy to grow attached to an interim
as caring and committed to Christ as
Pastor John, but his wife who is also a
minister has a permanent position in
Boston, so we know where his heart

We will also miss Pastor Brandi (but
just for the summer) who is on a well
deserved Sabbatical from June through
August. Brandi and her family will
have three months to rest and travel,
funded by a grant for pastors from the
Lilly Endowment. We look forward to
her return at the end of August as she
takes time to recharge and be renewed
for the next season of ministry.
Through the summer, Pastor Jimmy and
I will be around and available. I invite
