R
eady or
not – here
comes the
Fall Season! I
love the Fall, but
somehow the summer went by too
quickly this year. Fall brings us back
to school, back to our Sunday line up
of services on September 8
(8 a.m. in the Chapel, 9 and 10:30 in
the Sanctuary with Open Doors at
5 p.m. in the Sanctuary as well) back
to Sunday School, adult choir, youth
choir, Student Ministries all through
the week. Bible Studies and various
ministries start up again. Our men
will once again go off on retreat with
the men from Macedonia September
13-15. It is a busy time of year no
matter what age and stage we find
ourselves. Like I said, ready or not,
the Fall season has begun.
Praise God, our Building Team has
been busy at work, meeting with
neighbors, finalizing plans, preparing
for utility upgrades and moving
some rooms around in the CE
wing. They are now ready to share
our plans with the town Planning
and Zoning board as we begin this
once-in-a-generation transformation
of our property and site will begin
in earnest. Please pray for our
leaders and church as we go through
this important final stage before
construction can begin in earnest
next spring. Like NASA, it feels
like the rocket is on the launch pad,
receiving fuel and preparing for lift off.
Once again let me say thank you to
our generous givers who are making
this, and all our mission projects,
possible. The future looks to be
wonderful as we prepare our facilities
to serve the next generation of faith
seeking residents of Fairfield County.
Great plans have also been made
this fall to finish off our 150th year
celebration as we head towards our
founding weekend celebration on
November 3. Former Associate
Pastors Mark Orr, Connie and
David Jordan-Haas will be back to
share with us. Also on October 8,
Rosemary Mace who chaired this
effort, will present a very interesting
summary of our history spotlighting
our founders and their special
contributions to God’s work through
us in these last three centuries. All
during the fall, leading up to the
Anniversary celebration November
3rd, every Sunday in the morning
Sanctuary Services, the choir will be
singing music from each decade of
our existence! Come and share with
us in worship as we participate in the
praise of God’s people which echo
from our past into our present day
worship.
Your Pastor, Partner and Friend,
Sam Schreiner
