Children's Ministry
Minute with Mickie
a little MATH – a little ASK– the BIG REWARD
W
e have had an amazing
start to our Fall Sunday
School year. The intimacy of
the 8:30 am Chapel service with
our smaller Sunday School has given
Ms. Liz and me some really incredible one-on-one
with our Elementary students. Much more time for
“Wonder” and Bible discovery. We love it! Then
our incredible synergistic 10:00 am Sanctuary Service
with 40-50 students in Horton Hall has been amazing.
The Children’s Ministry Elders, along with Liz and I,
are planning some wonderful events for our NPC
families. Read Ms. Liz’s article and put these things on
your calendar as we head into our Thanksgiving and
Christmas seasons.
The purpose of Children’s Ministry at NPC is to help
YOU, the parents, provide for the spiritual growth
of your children. And so, we are requesting that all
parents take just two turns during the course of the
remainder of this school year to help out in Horton
Hall. We only need 5 people each Sunday at 10:00
am. Naturally, you will start out in the Sanctuary and
then come downstairs with the children after Words of
Wonder. The week before your turn you will receive
a copy of the Bible story and an explanation of the fun
activity that you will help the children do in a tent. It
is so easy that you can even do it at home for Family
Devotions. Trust me – we make this as simple as
possible.
Okay, let’s do
a little MATH.
At the time of this writing,
approximately 55 families have registered their children
for Sunday School. We have ONLY 27 weeks of actual
Sunday School classes left before the beach services
begin again. 27x5=135. We have 135 volunteer
Huddle Leader slots available to give us 5 leaders for
these next 27 Sunday School weeks. If we have 55
families, let’s say that there are probably 100 parents
available from those families. Divide 100 into 135
volunteer opportunities and what do you get? JUST 1.35
TURNS per person.
Look at what
a little ASK
this is of you. If EVERYONE
would volunteer 2 times in these next 27 weeks, you
would still have 25 weeks to be in a Worship service
while your children are in Horton Hall AND you’d still
have 12 more Sundays to worship on the beach before
the next school year. AND Children’s Ministry would
have all our Sunday School volunteer needs covered.
Woohoo!!
So? Where’s the
BIG REWARD?
By being in Horton
Hall with your children, they get some time with you.
You get to learn a Bible story better yourself, you both
get the opportunity to have an interactive experience
with the story that you can even do at home, AND you
will learn something from God’s Word that will help
you deepen your faith in Christ and your relationship
with your child. That, dear ones, is a reward beyond
measure!
Go to the NPC website and find a direct link on the
Children’s page to a sign-up form or
.
Dates are listed.
See you in Horton Hall!

Mickie O'Donnell,
